These bars were made before the marshmallow style and taste great! Double the recipe and use 9 x 13 pan!
1 cup Karo (white) Syrup
¼ cup sugar
¾ cup peanut butter
4 cups rice cereal

¼cup butterscotch chips
In heavy sauce pan heat Karo syrup and sugar to boil. Allow to boil 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter and stir until well blended. Add Rice cereal and mix well. Press into buttered 8x8 pan. In double boiler melt both kinds of chips and spread over top. Allow to cool before cutting.

Pumpkin Bars
This recipe can be traced back to the late forties and was presented in a Crisco Brand cookbook. I added nutmeg to the recipe for an additional kick. A great topping for this would be whipped cream or meringue.
2 cups sugar
1 cup Crisco oil
2 cups pumpkin or squash
2 cups flour
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Cream together the sugar, oil and pumpkin. Mix the dry ingredients separately then mix into moist slowly, mixing constantly. pour onto greased jelly roll pan. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
